AscendEX Futures currently supports three position modes: One-Way, Hedge, and Multi-Position.

I. What are One-Way, Hedge, and Multi-Position modes?

1. One-Way Mode: It allows positions only in one direction (long or short) for a futures asset. You cannot hold both long and short positions simultaneously for the asset.

2. Hedge Mode: It allows holding long and short positions simultaneously for a futures asset. This mode enables risk hedging by having positions in different directions within the same futures.

3. Multi-Position Mode: It allows opening independent positions for each trade without mergence, which differs from the Hedge mode. You can simultaneously hold multiple long and short positions, which helps manage each trade individually.

II. Switching Position Modes

Click One-Way in the trading area of the Futures page, select the desired position mode, and click Apply.

III. Notes

1. Before switching position modes, ensure there are no open positions or pending orders in the current mode. Close all positions and cancel pending orders before switching.

2. Both One-Way and Hedge modes support Cross Margin and Isolated Margin settings, while the Multi-Position mode only supports Cross Margin. In the Multi-Position mode, all open positions will share the account margin. If you have multiple positions, please closely monitor the account's margin rate to avoid forced liquidation due to increased margin usage from new positions.

3. In the One-Way mode, you can switch between Cross Margin and Isolated Margin modes with open positions. In the Hedge mode, you cannot switch between Cross Margin and Isolated Margin modes while having open positions or pending orders.

4. The One-Way mode supports the Reduce Only order type. Reduce Only orders allow reducing the position size but prevent increasing it. This helps avoid unintentional increases in position size due to market reversals, ensuring that positions intended for profit-taking are not affected. In the Hedge and Multi-Position modes, each position goes either long or short and does not reverse, so the "Reduce Only" option is not available. Therefore, instead of buy and sell, the available directions are Open Long, Open Short, Close Long, and Close Short.

For more information, please read Reduce Only.
